Splott Phoenix B.C.
All Welcome
We were founded as Splott Conservative Club, Bowls Section in 1990, but due to circumstances beyond our control, changed our name in 2005 to Splott Phoenix Bowls Club.
We are only a small club who enjoy our bowling, and the social side of the sport, our aim has always been to bring our sport to all in the community, allowing all ages to try the game of bowls.
In 2011 it was decided to allow ladies the chance of bowling for the club, so the club is now open to all. Our youth policy is second to none, they are the future of this sport, and players are now getting younger, and in our club old and young, seasoned players and those new to bowls get the same chance to bowl for the club, if they wish.
We try to play as many friendly mixed fixtures as possible through out the season, and welcome many touring sides to our club, but we also have a full league and cup programme, and club competitions that run through out the season, that give all members a chance to bowl.
We are very active at County and charity level, where our members join the South Glamorgan County team in playing friendlies, and try to put out many members in Presidential games and Charity events.
In 2011 saw three of our youngsters being selected for the South Glamorgan County Team, one at under 21 level, and two at under 16 junior level, to which the club is very proud, as they have bowled with us from the age of 10 years old, and are a product of our youth policy.
We have 22 male members ans 8 female members, it is hoped to have a ladies team up and running in the very near future, but we would like a few more lady members before we can start a ladies section.
We try to tour every two years or so, we would like to tour every year, but have a lot of commitments to bowling at home level.
At Splott Park we have a modern bowls pavilion, and cater for all, we do not have a bar but we do take tea at the park. We take visiting sides, back to our club base, The New Fleurs Sports and Social Club, for a hot meal and a pleasant drink in a friendly atmosphere where all are welcome.
