East Bourne 2011
A good time was had by all at Eastbourne this year, it was the first time that we took along lady bowlers as members of the Phoenix, and all ladies bowled well. We took along 31 on our tour, and all made it a weekend to remember. A tour for 2012 may be on the books, but a venue has yet to be finalised, all who attended the Eastbourne trip will be notified as soon as a destination has been approved, and hope more members will take part on our next little trip, thanks goes out to, Dave Wilcox, Rod Thomas and Martyn Watts who got the tour up and running and arranged the fixtures, thanks to Motcombe Gardens B.C. and Royal Soverign B.C. for the welcome, The Marine Parade Hotel for a good weekend and The Eastbourne Trade Union Club for a great Saturday night of enterainment.

Congratulations goes out to all members for their contrbutions to the team during the 2011 season. After a hard year due to circumstances beyond our cotrol we needed to win our last three games to stay in CML 5, and with grteat determination we pulled it off, playing some great bowls for 21 ends through out all our last three fixtures.
August 16th 2011
After a good win on Saturday in the Cardiff and Municipal league, away to Barry Central our fate rests in our own hands, we go into Saturdays final fixture of the 2011 league, at home to Cadoxton a, in a must win situation. It is important that we keep it together if we want to stay in Division 5 for 2012, going into the game Phoenix need to come away with a result, make no mistake it's not going to be an easy game with both sides needing a win to stay in the division. Over many years we have had some very close games against this Cadoxton side, and Saturday is going to be one of the toughest yet, the Phoenix are under no illusions, as nothing is certain in this game of ours, like all sports, we all have our day. With Cadoxton on 39 points and Phoenix on 40, its all to play for.
August 8th 2011
Its going to be a close run in at the end of the season for the Phoenix, with 2 games remaining we find ourselves in the drop zone with 28 points. After a win Saturday by Cadoxton (a), against Rumney Bucc's away, Cadoxton are on 35 points, 7 points above us, we will welcome Cadoxton (a) to Splott Park on the last day of the season, which could see a decider of which club stays in the 5th division and who gets relegated back down to the 6th, after both teams gained promotion last season. Before that game The Phoenix have to go to Barry Central next Saturday, and come away with a result, mean while Cadoxton (a) host Fairwater, and also need a result.
July 26th 2011
The club is going through a lean period at the moment with 5 top players missing, due to ill health, work, and holiday's. It's hope all members will be up for selection during the next up and coming fixtures. Those who have stepped up to cover these positions have done really well, and shows how much of a club Splott Phoenix is. The luck hasn't been with the team this season, though the bowling has been good, we wish all players good health and hope they will be back on the selection sheet soon.
