We are a small friendly club, from a small suburb of Cardiff, Wales called Splott. We were founded in 1990 by a group of friends and work colleagues who played skittles for Splott Conservative Club during the winter, but wanted to play an out door sport during the summer months. All ex ball players, from football, to baseball,

 they decided to turn there skills to lawn green bowling, so the club was founded, as Splott Conservative Club, Bowls Section. After playing many months of friendly games we joined the Cardiff and District Municipal League, the Cardiff and District Mid Week League, and became affiliated to the South Glamorgan Bowling Association and the Welsh Bowling Association, and we pr-seeded to change our name to Splott Phoenix Bowls Club
.

We have a six rink green and a modern bowling pavilion, with facilities for both men, woman, and the disabled. We offer tea and food, to all visiting clubs on playing days. After game hospitality is taken back at the Splott Conservative Club, 2 min's walk from the green, where you can enjoy a hot meal, or a cold buffet a nice welcoming drink. All are welcome back at the club, men, women and children, as you know many games are won and lost over a pint, and many friendships are renewed or made, after a good game.

Encouragement of bringing new players of any age, or ability to the sport, especially those in the local community are at the clubs forefront. There are no age restrictions, we have bowlers from the age of 13 years, to those in there 80's, and although our membership is small we offer a complete programme of bowling, and social events through out the year.

With the help of a lottery grant from the, Sports Council of Wales, we were able to update and expand our youth programme. We work closely with schools in the local area by introducing another sport, into the community, we have to look to the future of this sport, and the introduction of younger players, is the way to go. We have an enthusiastic youth policy, and a dedicated membership who coach and encourage those new to the sport, or seasoned players looking to join. We can supply all equipment you will need to try the sport, you just need to bring yourself along and have a go, you are under no obligation to join the club.


Touring sides or teams wishing to play a friendly game against the club are very welcome, we can asure you of a very friendly welcome, where the banter is second to none, and also a competitive game, the only thing we can't promise is the weather
.

We are a club looking toward the future, we have a well run club, where the members come first, it is a members club, run by the members, for the members.
